Opponent Injury Report: Derek Carr Returns

Confirming what has long been expected, Derek Carr will officially start on Sunday against the Chargers after a one game absence. His return will be a much needed boost to a suddenly struggling offense. E.J. Manuel unsurprisingly struggled to move the ball in his spot start against the Ravens last week. Carr will be playing at less than 100% but it's unclear if the injury will limit his effectiveness at all. Carr returning will get the headlines, but the Raiders are very banged up on the other side of the ball.

The Raiders first round pick, cornerback Gareon Conley, will miss the game with a shin injury. It'll be the third straight missed game for Conley and his absence is making matters worse for an already abysmal Raiders secondary. Conley has overall looked pretty good when he's been on the field this year.

The Raiders' best corner, David Amerson, is questionable with a shoulder injury. He missed last week's game against the Ravens with it and appears around 50/50 to play. If he misses the game too, it would be another plus for Philip Rivers and the passing attack's matchup.

Starting linebacker Marquel Lee sprained his ankle against the Ravens and will miss the game. Another plus for the Chargers offense.

Another starting linebacker, Cory James, is questionable with a knee injury. He missed practice Wednesday but got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. Like Amerson, he seems 50/50 to play.

Guard Gabe Jackson will return after missing the Ravens game, providing a boost to the Raiders offensive line.

Overall, the Raiders are very banged up. It's another good spot for the Chargers, who for the third week in a row will have a slew of injuries to take advantage of on the opposing team's defense.
