Dontrelle Inman traded to Bears for conditional 7th round pick

The Chargers announced Wednesday that they traded receiver Dontrelle Inman to the Bears for a conditional seventh round pick. It's a trade that makes sense for both sides. The Bears are starved for receiver help after suffering numerous injuries and need someone for Mitchell Trubisky to throw to. The Chargers have no use for Inman with all of their pass catching depth and since his contract is expiring after this season, anything they can get for him is a bonus, even a conditional seventh.

Inman signed with the Chargers in 2014 after spending a couple seasons in the CFL since going un-drafted out of Virginia in 2011. Inman was a valuable member of the Chargers' receiving corp the past couple seasons, starting all 16 games in last year. In 2016 he caught 58 balls for 810 yards and four touchdowns. The emergence of Tyrell Williams, the return of Keenan Allen, and the acquisition of Mike Williams all made him expendable this year, and so he's off to Chicago.
