Chargers Promote Andre Williams From Practice Squad

The Chargers announced they signed RB Andre Williams to the active roster, waiving safety Dexter McCoil in a corresponding roster move. Williams was promoted because normal backup running back Branden Oliver will miss the game with a hamstring injury.

Williams was the player on the practice squad with the most NFL experience. He's logged 323 career carries since entering the league as a 4th round pick of the Giants back in 2014. He was on the Chargers' practice squad towards the end of last season before being called up for week 17 and running for 87 yards on 18 carries. You can read a full breakdown of Williams and the rest of the practice squad here.

McCoil is an ex-CFL player who's appeared in 16 games for the Chargers including 2 this season.
