Chargers Claim Two On Waivers

The Chargers claimed a pair on waivers today after teams made their initial cuts down to 53. They added OL Michael Schofield from the Broncos and CB Jeff Richards from the Panthers.

Schofield, a 3rd round pick back in 2014, made 29 starts over the last two years, including Super Bowl 50. He'll be a nice interior line depth piece for the Chargers. Schofield was reportedly claimed by 5 different teams, meaning interest in him was pretty high.

Richards, a defensive back out of Emporia State, spent several years playing in the CFL before signing with the Panthers in January. He played only sparingly for the Panthers in the preseason, so it's unclear what the Chargers saw that made them claim him, or how long he'll stick on the 53.
