Braedon Bowman Added To Practice Squad, Joseph Jones Cut

The Chargers announced the signing  of TE Braedon Bowman to the practice squad, and released LB Joseph Jones to make room for him. A 2nd year player out of Southern Alabama, Bowman has bounced between a few different teams/practice squads since going undrafted in 2016. Bowman made some noise in camp with the Jaguars last summer but was ultimately waived during final cuts. He was claimed by the Jets, and spent a few weeks on the active roster before being placed on I.R. and missing the rest of the season.

After not being tendered a contract by the Jets he signed with the Saints in May and had a quiet preseason, catching just 1 pass for 1 yard. Bowman profiles as a pure blocking tight end and not a pass catcher, he caught just 11 balls in 12 games during his senior season at Southern Alabama, and buried behind 4 tight ends on the Chargers' 53-man roster, is unlikely to see the field any time soon on Sundays.

Jones was an intriguing 2017 UDFA linebacker prospect who spent the summer in Dallas. He's a freak athlete who's measurables were some of the best of this years linebacking class. I was hoping to see him stick around a little longer, and he'll probably get swooped up by someone's squad sooner rather than later. You can read more about Jones and the rest of the initial practice squad signings in our breakdown here.

  1. Sad to see Jones go, don't know why we need another Tight End...
