The NFL has released the preseason schedule this afternoon. Many exact dates and times aren’t currently known.

Week 1 the Chargers are at home against the Bears. Week 2 the Chargers are again at home playing the Dallas Cowboys.

In the third week, San Diego travels to the Big Easy in a matchup with the Saints on a nationally televised game on CBS slated to take place on August 27th.

The Chargers will wrap up the preseason with a trip to the Bay area to play the 49er’s.

CB Nathan Vasher, 28, was signed today by the San Diego Chargers. Vasher was formerly with the Chicago Bears and recorded 16 interceptions in his first three years in the league. His production dropped off the last three years, but he’s expected to add veteran depth and play possibly a nickle back position.

Life post LT.

Charger Power, we’ve said good-bye to a future Hall of Fame running back in LaDainian Tomlinson. LT has a direct ticket to Canton once he decides to hang up his cleats. He was the 2006 NFL MVP and the AP player of the year. Well, now as Chargers fans booed the 30 year old in the playoff game this year against the Jets, he now resides in New York, playing for the Jets.

So who replaces LT? Darren Sproles isn’t an every down back. Should the Chargers really look at drafting a back in the first round? Several mock drafts on the internet have San Diego taking Fresno State RB Ryan Matthews in round one.

Matthews is very similar in stature to Tomlinson. LT is listed as 5’10″ 223 pounds. Mathews is 5′ 11″ 220 pounds.  Matthews compiled a career record of 3280 rushing yards and 39 touchdowns. Last year only twice, did Matthews not cross the century mark in rushing yardage.

So, Chargers fans, is this the next replacement for LT? Do you want the Chargers to use their first round pick on a running back? Are you sold on Darren Sproles?
